1. Skills and Abilities

Strong leadership skills with a focus on performance combined with an open, inclusive and coaching style.

Ability, and credibility to manage others who are also managers, and to build a working culture and style that is congruent with The Pioneer Groups core values.

Ability to stand back from detail, appreciate and work with, the wider strategic picture.

Ability to design, implement and critically evaluate systems, policies and procedures.

Ability to present self confidently and credibly to staff at all levels, board members, residents, partner organisations and regulators.

Written skills to enable job-holder to write board reports and policy documents, and to critically evaluate the written work of others. 

Ability to use standard word-processing, spreadsheet and messaging software such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook, and ability/willingness to learn the specialised housing software packages as used at CVCH.

Flexible approach, able to prioritise, meet deadlines and plan use of own and others’ time.

Ability to problem-solve, take decisions and deal with difficult situations sensitively yet firmly.

2. Experience

Significant success in managing teams of staff to achieve targets and service excellence, working in an environment where customer service and customer involvement are a high priority.

Proven track record in performance management and experience of working within and generating a high performance culture with a clear understanding of the need for regulatory compliance.

Sufficient senior-level social housing experience to give the necessary profile and credibility and demonstrate experience of developing successful partnerships with outside agencies.

Must have worked at board/committee level.

Demonstrable experience of designing, implementing and evaluating policies and procedures.

3. Education and Specialist Knowledge

Educated to degree level in relevant subject area.

A sound knowledge of relevant housing legislation and current issues in social housing.

Specialist knowledge of at least one of the main functions covered by the job.

Up-to-date knowledge of current best practice in resident involvement.

Be willing to up-date skills and knowledge as appropriate.
